The Fire of 2018
In 2018, The Afrikan Poetry Theatre suffered an electrical fire that devastated a good portion of our building, rendering it unusable & condemned. This tragedy severely impacted our programming and activities. In collaboration with local Businesses, Institutions & Elected Officials, we are able to continue a small portion of our programming. We are currently trying to build a new home to house our organization, so that we can further serve the community with discounted event space rentals and cultural programming. In the wake of COVID 19 we have begun to transition some of our programming to a Digital/Virtual Format. We are asking our community to support our efforts in anyway possible so that we can continue to serve.
